Welcome to Steamboat Island Cooperative Preschool. Since 1973 our non-profit school has provided a place where families come together to share in their children's learning experience.

Our school embraces the philosophy that early childhood should be a time of fun, exploration and discovery. Our goal is to provide a balanced preschool program for the whole child, by providing opportunities and activities that will nurture children's physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development.

We recognize that each child grows and develops at their own pace. We seek to support their individual development in an atmosphere where children can explore their environment and the world around them through learning based play, which is how young children learn best.

Our school day is filled with a balance of choice time, structured activities and outdoor time. Teacher Melanie leads theme based activities including creative art, music & movement, circle time and stories. Our weekly themes have an emphasis on nature and our Northwest surroundings.

Parent involvement is an essential part of our school. Together with support from South Puget Sound Community College, our teacher and parents work to create an environment in which our children can learn and grow.

Located in a natural wooded setting on the west side of Olympia. We serve children ages 2-5 from both Thurston and Mason Counties.
